Jesse Puljujarvi playing in Europe
If he decides to play overseas and stays there, is there any cap saving for the Oilers or compensation? Or does he just walk and we eat a bad draft pick and he looses years of his NHL career like Radulov did a few years ago.
AnswerJun 25, 2019
The Oilers would not receive any compensation if Puljujarvi plays in Europe. He doesn't currently have an NHL contract, so if he plays in Europe there would be no cap consequences for the Oilers. In order to maintain his rights, they need to offer him a qualifying offer, which they did today. As long as they do that each year they'll retain his rights.
