Who gets the Cap Hit on a Trade Day
Assuming a trade is made involving one player for a draft pick. Which team gets the cap hit for that day (since cap hits are calculated daily)?
Answer
Mar 12, 2021All transactions are based on the 5pm Eastern cut-off to determine daily cap charge. So if a player is officially traded before 5pm, the new team has the cap charge for that day. If the trade is officially after 5pm, the original team has the cap charge for that day and the new team first has a cap charge the following day.
